REVIEW :

This movie had a LOT riding on it,s back , The fate of the DCU ( warner bros super hero movie universe ), warner bros streak of “bad” comicbook movies , etc , but to my pleasure , the movie came out swinging and passed with flying colors .

One of Wonder Woman,s greatest strengths lies in Patty Jenkins willingness to tell a story that,s faithful to the source material , yet broad enough for DC newcomers . Bigger progress is being made this weekend by the Patty Jenkins directed film , especially in a Hollywood that counts only 4% female directors across 1,000 top movies  ( for the period of 2007-2016, per a USC study ) . Wonder Woman shatters the domestic box office opening record for a movie directed by a woman , beating the old champ , Fifty shades of Grey by Sam taylor – Johnson ($ 85.1M ) . Wonder Woman is the second benchmark for female directors in a week ( Sofia Coppola,s best director win) at Cannes film festival for the movie ; The Beguiled , one one other woman has one in the last 70 years at Cannes !

Wonder Woman tells a tight , neatly assembled story that feels more like a standalone movie adventure ( Indiana jones style ) rather than a bridge to some greater story. Connie Nielsen and Robin Wright delivers great performances  as Hippolyta and Antiope and Chris Pine is fantastic . His Steve Trevor is Morally complex and his dynamic with the world around him is on point . But Gal Gadot is the driving force of this movie and finally should quiet the “haters ” who complained when she was casted as Wonder Woman in Batman V Superman . She IS Wonder Woman and this film is her stamp of approval . ( As of this post WW has jumped into the century mark with a estimate 101.4M , after an estimated 35.6M on Saturday )

OVERALL :

I give Wonder Woman a 5 out of 5 stars ( A must see !! ) though the stats are saying more women are seeing the movie than the guys are 53% to 47%  C’mon guys , it,s a great movie , go see !!
