ALIEN: COVENANT , More of the same ,.. Relief or Letdown

REVIEW ;

Having waited a week to see this movie , My review might just be overkill on my part but after “seeing” Covenant “, It was ” basically more of the same “, and I guess that might be ok for some of the hardcore fans and that also falls into whether or not you enjoyed the 2012 semi  prequel ” Prometheus “. A high-minded” sci-fi thriller that presumed to explain the origins of not just the “alien” series but of mankind itself . The Director ( scott ) teased us by suggesting that the off-cannon entry would contain the answers or better ,.. the DNA of the “Alien ” series .

But ultimately , the film fell short of expectations , even for the franchise ,s most ( hardcore) fans.

Alien: covenant attempts to have it both ways.

Taking place in 2104 , A decade after ” Prometheus ” and 18 years before the original ” Alien”, this movie is basically a “Prometheus ” sequel  with aliens in it.

The movie plot concerns of what became of Noomi Rapace and Michael fassbender,s Prometheus characters , Elizabeth Shaw ( who somehow survived a self-induced abortion ) and renegade android David (dismembered but still functional )  after they escape a planet that looked like the insidious planet ( luke skywalker ) escaped from in ( Empire strikes Back ) . Though the film ” looked ” good, it fell flat with the horror aspect , the audiences are so familiar with how this species reproduces  that there,s not much of a surprise between the point of infection , whether it be airborne spores or face “hugging” , in this world humans don,t recover from these types of encounters .

The 2ad act falls really flat on it,s face though Fassbender s try his best but it,s not enough to save this film from ot,s predictable outcome . ( Maybe I should have stayed home on this one Guys..)

OVERALL : I give Alien Covenant , a 3 out of five stars ( Stay at home and wait for the redbox on this one )
